"Jesus wasn't killed, mom!"

The other night we were driving and Hailey asked if Jerusalem was where Mary went. So that started a whole theological conversation with our 4 year old! It was awesome!

Hailey: "Where did Jesus die on the cross?"
Me: "Well, it was on a hill outside of Jerusalem."
Hailey: "Why did he put his cross on a hill?"
Me: "That was were the people who were killing him took him."
Hailey: "Jesus wasn't killed, Mom."
Me: "Yes, Hailey, he was..."
Hailey quickly interjected: "No, he died on the cross because he knew that was what he had to do." WOW!!!

Hailey: "Was Satan there watching Jesus die?"
Me: "Well Satan did know that Jesus was dying on the cross and he thought he had won! But Satan did not know that Jesus would rise from the dead. When Jesus rose from the dead, he won! (She has asked before what it means that Jesus "conquered the grave" so we talked about this again!)
Hailey: "What was Satan's face like when Jesus rose from the dead?"
Me: "I have no idea, but I'm sure it wasn't pretty!" (Not sure about the theological soundness of this answer!!)
Hailey: "Was he angry and mad?"
Me: "Yes--because he was defeated!!"

I am reminded often through conversations like this of the simplicity of the Gospel. I love seeing Hailey's child-like faith! She asks great questions that often make me really think! And yet she doesn't need all the answers spelled out for her to believe. I want a faith more like that--willing to believe and trust even when it doesn't all make sense.

All Boy!!

So, Bradyn Loves to climb on top of his changing table! The problem is he can't get down! So, yesterday he climbed up during nap time, and fell asleep up there!! How cute is he!!

Camping Out in the Playroom!

We had the privilege of keeping Ava and Dylan Swinehart for the weekend! It was a fun, loud and crazy time--6 kiddos under the age of 4 1/2!! We laughed a lot, tied lots of shoes, cut up lots of food, and had a grand time. The highlight for the kids was probably playing in the tent! It was a rainy weekend, so we pretended to "camp out" in the playroom and then the older kids slept in the tent at night! They had a blast!

FALL, FALL, FALL...

Where to start! I'm so far behind in updating this blog, that I don't know where to start! Well, since Chayce was born, lots has happened...Ben finished his final season with the Eagles, we went apple picking, Grampy and Grammy came to visit, Hailey started preschool and soccer, we went to the zoo with 4 moms and 10 kids, Lydia and Bradyn have really developed a "love-hate" relationship, taking turns biting and tackling each other, Chayce is sleeping like a champ, and I'm still changing two sets of diapers, tying 3 pairs of shoes, wiping lots of noses, buying and returning lots of clothes from Target (mostly not for me!!) and loving nap time!!!!

LOTS of SIBLING LOVE!!! It's so fun to see their friendships grow!
Chayce gets lots of hugs and kisses!

Bath Time!!! Aren't they cute! I have to remind myself that the day WILL come when they can all shower by themselves--but I want to enjoy these times when they laugh and play in the water and then run around "and be silly" (as Lydia says) in their towels!!

Grampy and Grammy came to visit and surprised Ben for his retirement party. It was a great visit with them!

Apple Picking! We had a great day apple picking up near Hendersonville. The kids loved eating the apples right off the trees! We came home and made some yummy applesauce and apple crisp! And on the way home, we all wore our favorite sports logo to Chick-fil-A and ate for $3 total!! Gotta love that!
